For 8 years, I worked as a pharmaceutical sales rep — always on the move. Some hospitals didn’t allow reps to use the elevator, so I’d climb up to 8 floors daily, lugging promo materials and chasing targets.
Over time, the lifestyle took a toll: I became obese. I developed severe heel pain, knee strain, hip discomfort, and was diagnosed as overpronated — my feet rolled in too much with every step, throwing off my posture and causing long-term pain.
When I eventually shifted to a work-from-home setup, things got worse. I stopped playing basketball. I barely moved. My weight increased. I forgot what it felt like to be active.
Then one day, I made a decision: take back my health. I committed to working out and lost 50 pounds. But despite the progress, the pain stayed — especially in my heels, knees, and hips. I needed real support.

That’s when I saw an ad for custom insoles. I thought they were ₱1,800 — but at the kiosk, I was pushed to buy the ₱60,000 version. I didn’t have that kind of money. Out of desperation, I settled for a ₱12,000 pair, hoping it would fix my issues.
As someone with experience in product development, I warned them: “This synthetic leather will wear out, especially if you sweat a lot.” They promised it would last a lifetime. They said I could return to replace the top layer if needed — just to close the sale.
But post-sale? That’s when the real frustration began. They told me to come back for acclimation. But every time I visited, they were busy talking to new customers. I was told, “Balik ka na lang po kapag walang tao.” I never finished my acclimation sessions.
Within a year, the black synthetic leather wore out badly. My white socks were permanently stained — so much that I couldn’t even wash the stains off. The material absorbed sweat but never dried properly. Eventually, I suffered a major ankle injury while playing in China — I slipped inside my own shoe because of the slick, sweaty insole.
